Extrusion coatings
"Soarnol®" does not merely prevent the intrusion of oxygen from the outside air. It also acts to prevent the absorption and transmission of food components. A typical example is orange juice. Freshly squeezed orange juice contains abundant quantities of limonene, an aromatic component. The polyethylene with which the innermost layer of an ordinary carton is laminated absorbs this limonene, degrading the flavor of the freshly squeezed juice. But creating a laminate with "Soarnol®" on the innermost layer of a multilayer container prevents degradation of flavor due to limonene absorption and enables the essential flavor of the orange juice to be preserved for long periods of time. It also prevents oxidation of the vitamin C content, enabling the flavor and freshness to be preserved for even longer.
In this way, the oxygen barrier properties of "Soarnol®" as well as its anti-absorption properties and various other characteristics are used in a continuing effort to offer solutions to customer problems.
